Argirec™ clays’ very fine grading, large exchange surface and low hardness mean that they can be used in a wide range of applications, where they impart excellent mechanical properties and enhance the appearance of finished products.
They are most notably used in elastomers, thermoplastics, and particularly in rigid and soft PVC’s
Calcined kaolin (such as Argical™) offers superior reinforcement, excellent extrusion and compression set, all important properties into the design of rubber compounds and articles. Calcined kaolin is chemically inert and our grades have low heavy metal content properties which are beneficial when making pharmaceutical stoppers.
Kaolin clays from France’s “Charentes” region are noted for their fine particle size and large exchange surface : valuable natural properties for the formulation of glues. These clays are used particularly in vinyl, epoxy, phenolic, and urea-formadehydel glues.
In sealants and adhesives, kaolin is used to modify rheological properties, giving good barrier effects and rheology control. Controlling rheology can influence the speed at which adhesive can be applied which is important in high speed paper laminating processes.
